Significant cash back for highly mobile businesses
If you or your employees spend a lot of time on the road – or if you have a large office and spend a substantial amount on office supplies – the SunTrust World for Business card is a good card to have in your wallet. The cash rewards version of the SunTrust World for Business card offers 3 percent cash back on gas and office supply purchases, and 1 percent cash back on everything else. (A points version of the SunTrust card is also available, but it’s significantly less generous.)
The 3 percent spending bonus only applies to the first $500 you spend per billing period. So if you’re an especially heavy spender, you may feel limited by how much you can earn. However, even with the bonus limit, you can still take home an extra $180 a year – on top of the 1 percent earnings you receive for other purchases. If you have a deposit account with SunTrust Bank, you can take home even more. Cardholders are awarded an additional 10 to 25 percent bonus if their earnings are deposited in a qualifying account.
Flexible spending
Aside from its rewards program, the most unique feature offered by the SunTrust World for Business card is its flexible spending limit, which is hard to find on a credit card. Rather than limit you with a preset amount of credit, the SunTrust World for Business card ensures that you or your employees won’t run out of credit when you need it by allowing you to charge as much as you need. The SunTrust World for Business card also offers a lengthy zero percent APR on purchases, which is a rare find for a business card. Cardholders are given up to a year to make interest-free purchases. By contrast, most business cards only offer a maximum of six months.
Low APR
Once the card’s promotional period expires, the SunTrust World for Business card’s standard interest rate is also relatively affordable. Cardholders with the best credit scores are charged just 10.24 percent to carry a balance, while other cardholders are charged a maximum rate of just 16.24 percent. By contrast, the average business card charges a minimum APR of 13.11 percent, according to CreditCards.com data. Meanwhile, the average maximum rate for business cards runs as high as 19.11 percent.
Good perks
Like many business cards, the SunTrust World for Business credit card also offers a number of business-friendly benefits that make shopping and travel less of a hassle. For example, the card offers standard credit card perks such as car rental insurance and travel emergency assistance. It also offers automatic rebates on qualifying purchases through the MasterCard Easy Savings Program.
Reasons to get it:
- Your company spends a lot on gas or office supply purchases.
- You plan to charge a large amount and need a flexible spending limit.
- You want a low-rate credit card with some rewards.
- You’re already a SunTrust bank customer or plan to become one and so are eligible for the card’s maximum rewards.
How to use it:
- Use your card for all gas and office supply purchases.
- Deposit your earnings in a SunTrust deposit account in order to maximize earnings.
- Pay close attention to your charges as you go. The SunTrust card’s zero credit limit policy can tempt you into charging more business expenses than you can afford.
